Wilbur

Another Christmas commission completed! This is Wilbur, he was commissioned by the same client who ordered Oscar, they will be framed this week then shipped off in plenty time for the holidays. He is also approx 12x14 inches, completed in graphite on Fabriano Artistico paper.

Next I will be on to Jude, another Cocker Spaniel, also in graphite. I hope to get the paper cut and the line drawing completed by today with perhaps a start on some shading. Also in the queue I have Lacey Lou, a Border Terrier to be completed in pastel, and two wildlife pastel paintings to be completed. So, very busy at the moment! Until next time, thanks for checking out the blog :)

Christmas Commissions

It's nearly that time again! Last year I decided not to do any commissions as I wanted to focus on the PP Diploma. Now I only have one piece left to do so I have been taken orders for Christmas and I am nearly fully booked! Here is the first one that I have completed, Oscar, a gorgeous Cocker Spaniel puppy in graphite.

I am currently working on a portrait of a dog named Wilbur for the same client which I am hoping to get part way finished today. These two will also be framed. Then it's on to yet another Cocker Spaniel, this time an older lady named Jude. Busy busy!

Zac Completed

Wow, it's hot hot hot in Leamington today! I've managed to get some work done in the garden and also some housework done which I have been ignoring, but most importantly Zac's portrait is completed! It now means I can update my website banner and also to create some vouchers with Zac as my main example of my work. I'm also going to send a print to Zac's puppy walker and her granddaughter who still adore him and also my neighbour who fostered him before we rehomed him. I haven't used graphite for some time and it's great to notice that I think I have actually improved with the small break! Next to come is a large acrylic painting which I hope to get started in the next few days.

Sunny...

Yesterday my life, was filled with rain. Sunny, is my latest commission! I've put my elephant to one side of the drawing board and begun this cutie. His name is Sunny and I have had the Boney M song on continuous play since starting this drawing!

Just like the song, it's happy and upbeat, and I have a really good feeling about this one turning out brilliantly.

At the moment it's just emerging out of the Ugly Stage, but I am posting all of my steps so far.

I've brightened up the pictures a little in Photoshop since they have not turned out very well in this light. He is much less yellow in real life, but it's easier to see the stages of the work like this.

Angies Pet Portraits Blog

Hi there to all who have stumbled across my little space on the web. I have started this new blog to record progress of my animal portraits as I work on them, and will possibly sneak a little real life into here too, including my beloved pets. I always have various artwork on the go, either commissions, college work or original pieces so I will be updating regularly (I hope!)

At the moment I am in the process of moving house, so things are a little hectic, but it's always nice to take a break, record my thoughts and then immerse myself in drawing. I've always been a huge animal lover and so combining my two passions of art and animals has been well worth it.

I have two pieces that I am working on at the moment, and will post the progress of the work I have started today later in the evening, for now I'll end with a picture of one of my little hamsters Koko. Bye for now!
